About the Role
Chotanagpur Kalyan Niketan (CKN) is inviting applications for the position of Program Manager for its Rural Creche Initiative. Supported by the Azim Premji Foundation, this initiative aims to provide safe, nurturing, and learning-friendly spaces for children in remote tribal villages of Simdega district, Jharkhand. The Program Manager will be responsible for overall planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the program, ensuring high-quality service delivery across all project locations.
The role involves team management, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and field-level monitoring to ensure that young children from 7 months to 3 years receive quality nutrition, care, and early learning support.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and supervise the functioning of Creches of Simdega.
- Ensure that Creches are safe, clean, and well-equipped to provide nutrition, care, and early learning support.
- Select, train, and guide Creche caregivers and field staff for effective service delivery.
- Support the team in monthly planning, trainings, community meetings, and awareness activities.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of services and provide on-the-spot guidance.
- Build strong linkages with parents, mothers’ groups, PRIs, ICDS, health departments, and other local stakeholders.
- Collect data, prepare periodic progress reports, and document case studies, success stories, and field experiences.
- Ensure timely submission of reports to the Management.
- Uphold child safety, nutrition, and hygiene standards across all Creches.
- Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the management related to the Rural Creche Initiative.
Qualifications & Experience
- Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Child Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Rural Development, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in field-based program management, preferably in childcare, education, nutrition, or health programs.
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of early childhood care, nutrition, and community engagement.
- Proven ability to manage team and work effectively with women and children in rural areas.
- Proficiency in Hindi (spoken and written); knowledge of English is desirable.
- Basic computer skills (Google Workspace, Canva, MS Office, email, internet).
- Willingness to travel frequently to remote villages and field areas.
- Commitment to working with marginalized and tribal communities.
Additional Requirements
- Must own a personal two-wheeler for field mobility, with a valid driving license.
- Reference verification from the previous employer is mandatory before final selection.
- Police and background verification will be conducted after joining.
Compensation
- Salary (CTC): ₹4,80,000 per annum (subject to applicable taxes and deductions)
- Travel allowance as per organizational policy.
- Final offer will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, screening and performance in interview.
